Pipeline stage

Find it: Left nav → Donors (stage column and filter) · a donor's profile → Pipeline & next action · Who can use it: Org Admins / CDOs, Development Associates, and in-scope committee chairs/members can change a donor's stage; Board Viewers see it read-only.

The stages

Unengaged → Identified → Committee Assignment → Contacted → Cultivated → Solicited → Gift Received → Thanked + Stewarded → Upgrade Strategy → Reassessment

• Unengaged — never contacted.
• Identified — screening or giving history on file.
• Committee Assignment — routed to a committee.
• Contacted — first outreach made.
• Cultivated — meetings, tours, events.
• Solicited — a specific ask made.
• Gift Received, then Thanked + Stewarded.
• Upgrade Strategy — toward recurring, planned, or a naming gift.
• Reassessment — donors re-enter the process after 12 months of no action.

How to find donors at a stage

1. Open Donors.
2. Choose a stage in the Pipeline stage filter. The count at the top covers every matching donor, not just the first page.
3. To see stages side by side, add the Pipeline stage column (Columns) and select its header to sort in stage order. Save the result as a view if you'll use it again.

How to change a donor's stage

1. Open the donor's profile.
2. In Pipeline & next action, choose the new stage. It saves immediately and is recorded in the donor's stage history.
3. Set a Next action date at the same time, so the donor doesn't go cold.

Good to know

• Every Tier A–D donor should have a stage and a next action.
• Stage changes are kept as history, and the dashboard's Pipeline funnel counts donors per stage. Select a stage there to open those donors.
• Changing a stage never sends anything to the donor.
• Committee chairs can change the stage of donors assigned to a committee they chair; committee members, only donors assigned to them personally.
• The old drag-and-drop board has been retired. Links to it open the donor list, filtered to the same stage when the link included one.
