Receipts & statements
Issue IRS-compliant gift acknowledgments and year-end giving statements, and see how your dollars break down by fund and restriction.
Find it: Left nav → Receipts · Who can use it: Staff and fundraisers (write access can issue, void, and reissue); board viewers can read. Committee members don't have access.
What you'll see
Three cards stacked top to bottom. Funds & restrictions summarizes cash totals by restriction (Unrestricted, Restricted, Temp. restricted) and surfaces a separate Zakat (tracked separately) tile plus a per-fund table when you have funds defined. Year-end statements runs a bulk generation for a whole tax year. Issued receipts lists your most recent receipts with a Print link on each row.
How to issue a gift receipt
Gift receipts are issued from the donor, not this screen.
- Open the donor's profile and find the Tax receipts & statements card.
- Under Needs a receipt, click Issue receipt next to the gift.
- The receipt appears in the list with its receipt number. Click Print / PDF to open the formal IRS Pub. 1771 document.
How to generate a year-end statement
- For one donor: on the donor's Tax receipts & statements card, pick the year and click Generate {year} year-end statement.
- For everyone: on this Receipts screen, use the Year-end statements card, choose the tax year (defaults to the prior year), and click Generate all {year} year-end statements. Donors who already have a statement are skipped, so re-runs are safe.
How to print or download a receipt
- Click Print (or Print / PDF on the donor card).
- The receipt opens in a new tab. Use your browser's print dialog to print or Save as PDF.
How to void and reissue
On the donor's Tax receipts & statements card, an issued gift receipt shows Reissue and Void. These never overwrite the original — voiding stamps the document VOID, and reissue creates a corrected copy, preserving the audit trail.
Set up funds and legal details
Go to Settings → Funds & receipts to add funds (name, restriction, optional faith category) and enter the details printed on every receipt: Legal name, EIN, address, Signatory name/title, and Disclaimer. Use Add Islamic presets (Zakat, Sadaqah) to seed faith funds.
Good to know
- A tax receipt is a legal acknowledgment, not a thank-you — it never counts toward a donor's thank-you ratio. Log a personal thank-you separately.
- In-kind gifts are described on the receipt with no dollar value stated, per IRS rules.
- Zakat funds are reported separately from your general totals.
- The Funds & restrictions totals reflect cash gifts only.
