Getting Started

A five-step setup checklist that walks you from an empty account to a fully working donor development engine — with online donations flowing straight to your bank.

Find it: Left nav → Getting started · Who can use it: Org Admins / CDOs and Development Associates (the people who can edit donors).

What you'll see

A Setup progress bar at the top shows how many steps you've completed (e.g. "2/5"). Below it are five numbered cards. Each done step gets a green check and fades; each remaining step keeps its action button. When all five are done, a "You're all set! 🎉" card appears with a Go to dashboard button. The checklist detects your real data, so a step ticks itself off the moment you finish it elsewhere in the app.

The five steps

  1. Import your donors — Upload a CSV or Excel file and we auto-classify everyone and build your Action Plan in seconds. The Import donors button opens the import wizard. See Donors for column mapping and merge options.
  2. Auto-tier your donors — Rank everyone by lifetime giving into Tiers A–E with one click. Open donors takes you to the Donors screen, where the header has the Auto-tier button. See Donors.
  3. Set up committees — Build volunteer committees from the eight standard templates and assign donor segments. Add a committee opens the committees screen. See Committees.
  4. Launch your first campaign — Set a goal and get a gift pyramid with the exact donors-needed math. Create a campaign opens the campaigns screen. See Campaigns.
  5. Accept online donations — Connect your organization's Stripe account so donations flow straight to your bank. Set up donations opens a dedicated step-by-step setup guide, which then links you to Settings → Donations & payments. See Settings.

How to work the checklist

  1. Start at the top and click each step's button in order — though you can do them in any order.
  2. Complete the task on the screen it links to (import a file, run auto-tier, and so on).
  3. Come back to Getting started; the step now shows a green check and your progress bar advances.
  4. When the bar hits 5/5, click Go to dashboard to start your daily work.

Good to know

  • This screen is a friendly overview — each step points to a deeper how-to. Follow the links above when you want detail.
  • Don't see Getting started, or it redirects you to the dashboard? Your role doesn't include donor editing. Ask an Org Admin to change your role under Team & Roles.
  • Skipping a step is fine. You can accept donations without committees, or run campaigns before connecting Stripe — the checklist just tracks what's left.
